Teaching intentional living skills to kids

Learning to live with intention is an important skill that I want to develop for my kids. It involves helping them to understand the importance of making conscious and deliberate decisions when it comes to their day-to-day life, such as planning and setting goals, evaluating their choices, and being mindful of their impact on both themselves and others.

Intentional living is important because:

1. It helps us focus on the things that will bring us long-term satisfaction.

2. It involves being mindful of our actions and our decisions.

3. It helps setting goals that are aligned with our values and priorities.

4. It can provide a sense of direction and purpose, making it much easier to live according to our values.

For my daughters, growing up in today's world will be harder than for me. I grow up without social media. My generation spent a lot of free time playing outside with their peers. The house was an oasis where you could retreat and relax after the events of the day.

Kids in today's world face a variety of pressures. From peer pressure to academic pressure to social media pressure. They also face increased expectations from parents, teachers and society as a whole. As technology advances, kids are exposed to more and more information, both positive and negative, and must learn how to process and evaluate it.

Teaching my daughters about intentional living can help them to develop a strong sense of self-awareness, so that they can make wise decisions, even in the face of pressure from peers and society.

I will encourage my kids to make thoughtful decisions based on their values and principles. I want to help them cultivate a clear idea of what is important to them in life, and be conscious of how their decisions and actions are impacting themselves and others.

That's why I teach my daughters three important things:

1. Recording the events of their life in a journal

Writing a journal provide a way to document your thoughts and reflections on life. It is a tool for self-discovery. A tool for understanding how your decisions and actions affected your life.

2. Talking about emotions

Talking about emotions allow you to express and process your feelings. It help you identify the source of the emotions and develop strategies to cope with them. This can help you stay connected to your intentions and stay on track with achieving what is important to you.

3. Planning

Planning helps keep you focused and motivated to achieve your goals. It gives you an idea of where you are going and how you are going to get there. This way, my daughters can stay intentional and driven in the pursuit of their goals.
